Why do cryptographers who work on protocols keep talking about rewinding? Are they all stuck in the past? Why do we need to rewind anyway, and what does this have to do with obfuscation?

In this talk, we'll discuss the mysteries of rewinding. We will also discuss how new techniques, such as super-polynomial strong simulation, can help us use rewinding to avoid rewinding. Along the way, we'll see why this is useful for reducing interaction and achieving composable security.

The new works discussed in this talk are joint with Dakshita Khurana, and with Saikrishna Badrinarayan, Vipul Goyal, Abhishek Jain, and Dakshita Khurana.
